DAY 5: SPEAKING LIFE IN THE FIGHT

"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

REMEMBER THE VICTORY

Remember:

We’re not fighting to win a victory; we’re fighting to stand in the victory that is already ours, given to us by Christ Jesus. The words we speak can either show that victory or hold it back. Let’s choose our words wisely.

DEVOTIONAL READING

Today, I want to talk about a weapon in your spiritual arsenal that’s often overlooked but can be powerful or harmful depending on how we use it: our mouths.

The Bible is clear in Proverbs 18:21: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." Our words have real power. What we say can create, carry authority, and either agree with God or with the enemy during our struggles.

In a long struggle, what we say matters more than we might think.

The Pattern God Set from the Beginning

Let’s go back to Genesis 1.

When God created the heavens and the earth, He didn't think them into existence. He didn't feel them into existence. He didn't even act them into existence.

He spoke them into existence.

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." (Genesis 1:3)

Ten times in Genesis 1, we see the phrase, "And God said." The entire universe, every galaxy, every ocean, every mountain, every breath in our lungs, came into being because God spoke.

In Genesis 1:26, God said:

"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."

We were made in the image of a God who speaks.

We weren’t given a mouth just to stay silent. We were given a mouth that can create and make a difference.

When we speak, things change in the spiritual world. When we declare God’s truth, it makes a difference. If we agree with Heaven out loud, Heaven responds. If we agree with the enemy, that has an effect too.

That’s why our words during a long struggle aren’t just optional; they’re important and strategic.

TWO MOUTHS IN EVERY BATTLE

In every spiritual battle we fight, there are two mouths actively working against us and for us.

1.  The mouth of the enemy.

The Bible calls Satan "the accuser of our brethren" (Revelation 12:10); the one who accuses them before our God day and night. Day. And. Night. He never stops talking. He whispers lies, plants doubts, magnifies fears, and tries to get us to repeat what he says with our mouths.

2. The mouth of Heaven.

But there is another voice. "My sheep hear my voice," Jesus said in John 10:27. The Spirit of God speaks. The Word of God speaks. The blood of Jesus speaks (Hebrews 12:24). And every promise God has ever made over our lives is still speaking, declaring its "yes and amen" in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Now here is the question:

Whose voice are we echoing?

In spiritual battles, we amplify whichever voice we repeat. What we say out loud gives power to that voice in our lives.

When we say, "I can't take this anymore”; we are amplifying the enemy.

When we say, "By His stripes I am healed”; we are amplifying Heaven.

When we say, "Nothing ever works out for me"; we are agreeing with hell.

When we say, "All things work together for good for them that love God" (Romans 8:28), we are agreeing with Heaven.

Friend, our words don’t just describe what’s happening—they help decide what happens next.

What We Speak Is What We Water

Here’s an image I hope you’ll remember.

Imagine your life is a garden. In that garden, two kinds of seeds have been planted: promises (planted by God) and problems (planted by the enemy). Both are real. Both are present. Both are waiting for water.

Your words are like water for those seeds.

Whatever we water is what will grow.

If we spend our time talking about our problems, describing and repeating them, we’re watering them. They’ll grow, spread, and can even crowd out the promises God has planted in our lives.

But if we focus on speaking God’s promises, declaring and repeating them, we’re watering those promises. They’ll take root, grow strong, and eventually bear fruit in our lives.

This is why Jesus said in Mark 11:23, "shall say unto this mountain..." He did not say, "shall talk about this mountain." He said, "shall say unto this mountain."

Don’t just talk about your mountain, talk to it.

How Jesus Used His Mouth in Battle

Let’s take a look at how Jesus modeled this in Matthew 4, the wilderness temptation.

The enemy came at Him three times. Three different attacks. Three different lies. And how did Jesus respond?

Three times, He opened His mouth and said: "It is written..."

Pay close attention to this:

-Jesus did not think the Word at the enemy.

-Jesus did not feel the Word at the enemy.

-Jesus did not post the Word at the enemy.

Jesus spoke the Word to the enemy. Out loud. With His mouth. With authority.

The enemy can’t read our minds, but he can hear what we say. Every force against us trembles when a child of God speaks out and declares, "It is written..."

This is our weapon as believers. When we speak God’s Word, it’s the most powerful weapon against the enemy.

Practical Ways to Speak Life in the Long Fight

You might be wondering, “This all sounds good, but how do I do this when the battle feels long?” Here are five practical steps you can try:

Open every morning with a declaration.

Before you look at your phone, the news, or your worries, try starting your day by speaking a truth over it. For example, "This is the day which the Lord hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24) is a great way to begin.

Personalize Scripture.

When you read the Bible, speak it over yourself. Declare God’s promises, turning them into declarations: "I am more than a conqueror through Him that loved me" (Romans 8:37). "No weapon formed against me shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17). "He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it" (Philippians 1:6).

Refuse to rehearse the problem.

If you notice yourself talking about your struggles over and over, pause and ask, "Am I watering the problem or the promise?" Then choose your words to support the promise.

Speak directly to the mountain.

When fear rises, speak to it: "Fear, you have no place here. I bind you in Jesus' name." When sickness rises: "Sickness, leave my body. I belong to the Healer." When discouragement rises: "Discouragement, you are not my portion. I am the head and not the tail." (Deuteronomy 28:13)

Sing your way through the fight.

David played music before he picked up a sword. Play a song, lift your voice, and let worship speak life through song. Some battles break when you add singing.

A Word of Holy Caution

Don’t confuse speaking life with positive thinking, manifesting, or magic. We’re not speaking life to force things to happen.

Speaking life means agreeing with what God has already said, like a child trusting their Father’s words.

We don’t create reality with our words. We’re joining in with what God has already declared. We’re not telling God what to do; we’re agreeing with Him.

This is the difference between a witch/warlock and a warrior:

-A witch/warlock tries to bend reality with their words.

-A warrior aligns their words with the reality God has already established in His Word.

One approach is based on pride, the other on faith. Choose to walk in faith.

A Final Word for Today

Friend, if you’re in a long struggle, maybe the enemy has been the loudest voice. He’s been repeating your fears and discouragement.

It’s time to take back the microphone.

God made our mouths to praise Him. Our tongues are meant to declare His goodness. Our voices can shake the gates of hell with the name above all names: JESUS!

So today, speak up. Even if it’s just a whisper, even if your voice shakes, even if you’re crying as you say it.

Speak life out loud.

The same God who spoke light into darkness at creation is still speaking today. He’s put His Spirit and His Word in us so we can speak too.

Key Insights to Hold Close

• God made you in His image and spoke the world into being. That means your words have creative power, so use them on purpose.

• Let your words focus on God’s promises, not just your problems.

• Don’t just talk about your mountain; talk to it. When you speak with faith, mountains move.

• The Word of God in the mouth of a believer is the most feared weapon in hell. When you say, "It is written," demons tremble.

• Speaking life means agreeing with God’s promises. It’s not just positive thinking. You’re not making things happen; you’re lining up with what God has already said.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

Take a quiet moment with God and let the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts:

1.     What words have I been speaking over my life, my body, my family, or my future that I now need to repent of?

2.     Whose voice have I been amplifying lately, Heaven's or hell's? Where do I need to change the channel?

3.     What promise of God do I need to start speaking over my long fight, out loud, every day?

4.     Is there a mountain in my life I have been talking about instead of talking to? What would it look like to address it directly today?

5.     What is one declaration I will commit to speak every morning this week? Write it down. Speak it tomorrow.

PRAY:

Father,

Forgive me for every word I have spoken in agreement with the enemy. Forgive me for the times I have rehearsed the problem instead of declared the promise. Forgive me for treating my mouth as a passive thing instead of the holy weapon You created it to be.

Holy Spirit, set a guard over my mouth (Psalm 141:3). Help me to catch every word before it leaves my lips and strengthen me to become intentional in speaking the promise rather than the problem. Teach me to speak only what You are speaking.

Father, I declare today that my mouth belongs to You. My tongue is a weapon in Your hand. My voice will rise up in this long fight and agree with every promise You have ever spoken over me. I will say to my mountains, “be removed.” I will say to fear, “be silent.”  I will say to my body, my mind, my family, my finances, my future, “ be aligned with the Word of God.”

I take back the microphone today, in Jesus' name. And I will speak. Life. Until. I. See. It.

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

TODAY’S DECLARATION OF FAITH

(Speak this aloud, with conviction, with authority, and with your whole voice):

"I am made in the image of a speaking God. Creative authority exists in my words because the Spirit of God lives in me. Today, I take back the microphone of my own life. I will no longer rehearse the enemy's lies and water the problem. I speak life where God has spoken life. From this day forward, my mouth becomes a weapon of declaration. I will speak what God has spoken. I will agree with what Heaven has decreed. I will say to every mountain, “Be removed in Jesus' name”. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me in judgment, I condemn. I am not fighting for victory; I am fighting from victory. And my mouth will declare it until I see it. Amen."

On Day 6, we’ll explore one of the most surprising weapons in spiritual battles: joy. Not just happiness or pretending, but the true joy of the Lord that gives you strength (Nehemiah 8:10) when nothing else can. We’ll see why the enemy tries to steal our joy and how to hold on to it during tough times.

Until then, speak life. Speak boldly and keep speaking until you see change. Remember, you’re not fighting for victory; you’re fighting from victory, and your words are Heaven’s megaphone.
